How have you changed since starting CrossFit Maroubra (CFM)?:
CFM has changed not only the way I approach my training, but also how important nutrition and stretching are in regards to getting the most out of the sessions and everyday life.

What is your fitness background? What were you doing before CFM?:
Before CFM, I was doing the standard run-of-the-mill gym sessions in the well-known establishments. I’ve always been active in sports such as Rugby League, Basketball and Indoor Soccer, but I wasn’t getting the most out these sports until joining CFM.

Favourite WOD or movement:
Isabelle! And anything to do with lifting weights.

Least Favourite WOD or movement:
Running – who DOES like it!

What are your goals this year? Where are you in terms of achieving them?:
My goal this year is to successfully complete each and every WOD Rx’d. This can only be achieved with practice and completing each discipline with the correct technique! I still have a way to go, especially pull-ups, but know the team at CFM will assist me to get there.

Any best CFM stories?:
I’d have to say the people. We are a great team with some great people. Everyone is encouraging whether you’re hurting a lot or not hurting as much. I’ve made some lifelong friends who share a passion for CrossFit and can genuinely say it has changed my life for the better.

What advice do you have for people just getting started?:
It’s gonna hurt, it’s gonna be tough, but it will improve your life in many more ways than any corporate gym could ever do. You need to hang in there and keep turning up as regularly as you can. Eventually those really hard WODs will get easier and you will get fitter and be able to push yourself harder, and you’ll feel great just as I have done.
